There are over 1500 children in care in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, many of whom have had very difficult life experiences and desperately need a stable and supportive home environment in which they can feel safe and secure.
Fostering is Challenging, but is also one of the most rewarding things you can do. Providing stability, support and care in your home for a child who really needs it, and seeing that child grow and develop in your care, is enormously fulfilling.
Children in care in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire need to be able to stay close to their families and friends and to attend local schools, so it is vital that we increase the number of local foster carers.
AFA are actively seeking new and experienced foster carers to provide a home for children living in Nottingham, Newark-on Trent, Worksop, Retford, Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and other towns in the area.
Who makes a good foster carer?
Foster carers come to AFA from all walks of life. Your age, marital status, sexuality, job and background aren’t important – what matters is that you possess the strengths and qualities to make a real difference to a child’s life.
AFA is looking for new and experienced foster carers who:
Have a genuine interest in helping children to change their lives for the better
Can provide a warm, supportive and caring home for a child
Have the time, energy, flexibility and commitment to look after a child
AFA fully subscribes to the Fostering Network’s transfer protocol, making it easy for experienced foster carers to transfer to us.
