It’s Foster Care Fortnight Monday 16 to Sunday 29 May 2016

Foster Care Fortnight’ is the UK’s biggest foster care awareness raising campaign, led by the charity, The Fostering Network. This campaign has been running for almost 20 years and aims to highlight the commitment, passion and dedication of foster carers, something that we also recognise in our own carers.

Foster Care Fortnight also looks to highlight the need for more foster carers. Some estimate that 9,070 new foster families will be needed in the next 12 months alone

Foster Care Fortnight is the perfect time to make your connection to fostering. You can talk to others about fostering, you can get involved in one of our fundraising activities or you could consider applying to become a foster carer.

Here are some of the things that our carers have said about fostering:

“Since becoming foster carers we have been changed forever, our experiences and knowledge has broadened and we have met many people that may not previously been part of our lives.” D & G

“If you put everything into fostering you will reap the rewards by watching the child develop into a confident happy person and you know you’ve done your best for them” K

“Fostering is a Rewarding challenge.” S & S

“Fostering has been a way of life for me. I have laughed many times, cried a few times,  felt immense pride on many occasions and often felt a deep feeling of gratitude and honour when a child trusts you enough to let their guard down and starts to trust you” K
